It’s Your Call: How STD Programs can Increase PrEP Usage and Facilitate STD Prevention
NCSD continued our membership conference call series - “It’s Your Call.” This is a venue for members to discuss pertinent topics and subject matter of your choosing in a forum that fosters discussion and sharing among peers.
Dr. Phillip Chan, Rhode Island, and Dr. Leandro Mena, Mississippi, discussed the challenges, opportunities and outcomes they have had in providing PrEP in STD clinics and other community health facilities. Dr. Sammuel Jenness, Georgia, discussed how increasing the frequency of STD screening and treatment for MSM on PrEP looks like an encouraging strategy for reducing STD community prevalence and disrupting STD transmission in sexual networks.Tips and strategies for effective PrEP delivery were also discussed. Participants were encouraged to ask questions and share their thoughts on:
- Why and how can my STD Program foster PrEP uage and increase uptake?
- Why and how increasing STD screening frequency for MSM on PrEP can reduce STD Prevalence?
- Are there available protocols and plans that I can use and adapt for my program ?
- How can NCSD support you?
