The October newsletter focuses on National Bullying Prevention Month.
The October newsletter of the Expanding Partnerships and Disseminating HIV Prevention Materials to Reduce HIV and other STDs among Adolescents through National Non-Governmental Organizations (PS16-1603) project focuses on National Bullying Prevention Month. This newsletter features tools and resources on bullying prevention for LGBTQ students and highlights the great work GLSEN, which has led the way on LGBTQ issues in K-12 education since 1990, does to foster safe and inclusive schools. Becca Mui, Education Manager, of GLSEN writes about research on school climate, anti-bullying policies designed to help schools address bullying and harassment, and tools for educators to create safe spaces and LGBTQ-inclusive curriculum. GLSEN’s ThinkB4YouSpeak Guide and Safe Space Kit, as well as Gender Spectrum’s Gender Inclusive Schools Tool Kit and CDC’s resources on bully prevention are included in the newsletter. The initiative’s upcoming conference and workshop presentations are also highlighted.
