Bill Number: S.B. 885

Bill Description:

Specifies that family planning services for which a Medi-Cal managed care plan may not restrict a beneficiary’s choice of a qualified provider include STD testing and treatment.

Bill Number: S.B. 932

Bill Description:

Authorizes an HIV counselor to also perform a rapid STI test, or any combination HIV/HCV/STI tests, as specified. Allows HIV counselors to receive HIV counseling training through a training course that has been certified by the Office of AIDS.

Policy Update: Reimbursement for Expedited Partner Therapy (EPT)

Medi-Cal and Family PACT have updated their policy to reimburse for EPT.

  • For the prevention of reinfection from chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomoniasis
  • Allowable by prescription for any visit type ordispensed in clinic for family planning related visits only
  • Reimbursement for client dose and up to 5 partner doses per dispensing
  • Prescriptions must be written in the name of the enrolled client

Bill Number: S.B 2040

Bill Description:

Relates to the treatment of the partner of a patient with a sexually transmitted infection. This bill expands the existing clinical practice of treating the sexual partners of patients diagnosed with chlamydia or gonorrhea to include trichomoniasis.

Bill Number: H.B. 191

Bill Description:

Makes an appropriation to the Mississippi Department of Health for the purpose of developing, establishing and operating two STD/HIV specialty clinics for the fiscal year 2021.
