During the second DIS Community of Practice webinar, participants heard how DIS were employed in New York State, Louisiana, and Texas to address rises in syphilis.
Using their expertise in facilitating partner services and linking patients to care, Disease Intervention Specialists (DIS) play a major role in outbreak response across the country. Their skills in interviewing, counseling, and community engagement are ones that are highly needed when there are sharp upticks in STD morbidity. Hear specific ways in which DIS were used to address rises in syphilis, and how DIS were integrated into rapid response plans in different jurisdictions. Also learn details about how DIS collaborated with community-based organizations and learn from hearing an engaging peer-to-peer discussion after the presentation.
