Today, the Trump Administration released a blueprint for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 budget. The President’s request serves as a “wish list” for the next budget cycle and officially kicks off congressional review and the appropriations process.
Included in today’s release is the Budget in Brief for the Department of Health and Human Services, which provides a high-level overview of the Administration’s proposals. This proposal includes several items from the FY26 budget proposal, which Congress already rejected, including:
Additionally, like last year, the document proposes $300 million funding for a proposed consolidated STI, hepatitis and TB grant program, which is a reduction of $70 million for those programs from current funding.
It is unclear at this time if additional information – such as Congressional Justifications for individual HHS agencies like CDC and HRSA – will be released. If the FY 2027 timeline mirrors that of FY 2026, these details may not be available until later this month or possibly in May.
We plan to send out a more detailed analysis of the materials released today early next week.
