The Community Access National Network (CANN) – in partnership with the ADAP Advocacy Association – will host a VIRTUAL community roundtable on Covid-19s Impact on HIV, Viral Hepatitis, STIs, and Substance Use-Disorder. The virtual community roundtable is slated for Wednesday, June 30th from 2:00 p.m. EST to 3:30 p.m. EST, and it will be led by Jen Laws, CANN’s HIV/HCV Co-Infection Watch Project Manager & 340B Policy Consultant.
Covid-19 has affected all aspects of life and health care delivery across the globe. In 2020, expertise from other infectious diseases were mobilized to stage a rapid response to the novel coronavirus, diverting precious resources from already underinvested programs. The virtual community roundtable will feature the National Coalition of STD Directors and Community Education Group as panel members. Panelists will discuss the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on HIV, Viral Hepatitis, sexually transmitted infections, substance-use treatment and prevention, and how the pandemic has exacerbated pre-existing disparities among affected communities. Join us on Wednesday, June 30th [2:00 PM EST] for a dynamic conversation as our panelists discuss the pre-coronavirus ecosystem, addressing some of the country’s most pressing public health concerns, how Covid-19 has changed the conversation around these syndemics, and explore what “returning to normal” looks like for communities, patients, advocates, health care professionals, and policy makers.
