Adolescent Health COVID-19 and Health Equity Supplemental Resources 

Check out the below resources developed as a part of NCSD’s CDC-DASH COVID-19 and Health Equity Supplemental work.  These tools are designed to mitigate the impact of disruptions related to COVID-19 and highlight health equity on adolescent sexual health care.  For more information, contact the Adolescent Health team at [email protected].

Toolkits:

  • Adolescent Sexual Health Telemedicine Services During COVID-19: This toolkit outlines how telehealth can be used to continue meeting the unique sexual health needs of adolescents and how its continued use can be supported through meaningful policy and regulatory changes.
  • Developing a Referral System for Adolescent Sexual Health Services: The Referral System implementation toolkit offers best practices and strategies for schools to develop their own robust, comprehensive referral systems.  Visit the resource page to access the toolkit and view recordings for the accompanying webinar series.

Webinars:

  • Delivering Adolescent Sexual Health Services During COVID-19: In partnership with School-Based Health Alliance, NCSD presented a webinar to highlight approaches for providing inclusive, safe, and supportive care for adolescents during COVID-19.
  • Adolescent Sexual Health Care During COVID-19: In this follow-up webinar to “Delivering Adolescent Sexual Health Services During COVID-19”, NCSD partnered with School-Based Health Alliance and Possibilities for Change to explore the continued use of telehealth and hybrid models of care to ensure increased access to sexual health care for adolescents.
  • Referral Systems for Adolescent Health Services: In partnership with CAI, NCSD presented a webinar to highlight strategies to help schools develop effective referral systems, including establishing policies, outlining roles and responsibilities, and marketing available services.

  • Access NCSD’s free learning center here
  • Register for the new course, Linking Adolescent Sexual Health Services to Outbreak Response. This brief module is designed to provide knowledge around ways that health department, school, or other staff working with adolescents can support schools with outbreak response activities while also addressing the sexual health needs of adolescents. 1.25 Continuing Education Unit (CEUs) available.
