DIS Certification

Working towards a national certification program for those on the front lines of STI prevention – Disease Intervention Specialists (DIS).

> Our Work > Disease Intervention > DIS Certification

NCSD has partnered with the National Association of City and County Health Officials, the Public Health Accreditation Board, and the CDC Division of STD Prevention to complete foundational work toward establishing a DIS national certification program. NCSD will continue our partnership with CDC, NACCHO, and other key partners as we move into the next phase of DIS certification program development.

This project was made in partnership with the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB), the National Association of City and County Health Officials (NACCHO), the National Coalition of STD Directors (NCSD), DIS subject matter experts, and certification experts.

Many local and state health department DIS and other program staff supported these efforts, and their participation from the field has been critical to each step of this process. Additionally, our National Advisory Committee, which included national, state, and local stakeholders in HIV, STD, TB, emergency preparedness, workforce development, and health department accreditation, was instrumental to ensuring the success of this important phase of the DIS certification development process.
