Dear NCSD Members,

NCSD is seeking nominations for vacancies on the NCSD Board of Directors; I hope you will take this opportunity to thoughtfully consider possible candidates. For background information, please click the following links for a list of the current board of directors, full NCSD members, and a board job description. All nominations can be submitted through the online nomination form. Deadline to submit is October 26, 2018.

With the work of the organization expanding, this is an exciting time to join the NCSD board. Diverse board nominees are sought who have expertise in any of the following areas: program science, clinical issues, public policy and advocacy, nonprofit financial management, communications, fundraising, and/or working with populations disproportionately impacted by STDs.

As you know, the Board of Directors plays a vital role in governance of our organization and is broadly representative of the NCSD members. A nominating committee has been formed. This committee will review nominations and recommend a slate of candidates to stand for election during the business meeting on November 13, 2018 at STD Engage 2018. Once the slate is presented, the voting period will be open for 30 days.

The nominating committee’s mission will be to review all nominations received, follow up with candidates if more information is needed, and recommend a slate of candidates that meets bylaw requirements for geographic diversity and representation from high, medium, and low morbidity states. To ensure diversity goals are reached, additional criteria will be used to review nominees including, but not limited to, areas of expertise mentioned above.

Nominations are welcome from both full and associate members, however, per NCSD’s bylaws, members of the Board of Directors must be the designated “Full Member.” Full members may also nominate themselves. Please note that NCSD is in the process of updating our bylaws to ensure we are following current regulations and laws and to clarify other aspects of bylaw provisions. A revised set of bylaws will be presented for the membership’s consideration at the business meeting.
