NCSD Engage 2017 Day of Action

Release Date
June 2, 2025

NCSD will train you on how to do effective hill visits, coordinate all meetings, and accompany you on the Hill. The STD field needs your voice, and we’re here to make this day easy, fun, and rewarding!

To register, contact Rebekah Horowitz, Senior Manger, Policy and Government Relations.

We need you! Now more than ever, our field needs to educate national policy-makers about the worst ever STD rates in the US and what this means for your state and local communities. What needs to happen to reduce STDs in America? What resources are needed? Where can Congress make a difference to the program to lead to have the greatest impact on people’s sexual health? What role do you play in your community in STD prevention? All of this and more awaits you during NCSD Engage 2017 Day of Action. Let your voice be heard for these educational visits that DO NOT constitute lobbying! Sign up now.

David C. Harvey, Executive Director

Effective policy engagement is often done by those on the front lines—those who can speak to the realities of STD programs on the ground and the disease burden in your locality. Now, more than ever, with STDs at their highest rates ever, going to the Hill to discuss the importance of STD prevention is vital.

But as a state or local employee, what can you say and do and stay in the “safe zone”? You can effectively educate about the importance of your programs and the funding received!  This is important because it gives a face and voice to the STD programs and supports NCSD’s efforts on the Hill as the only organization educating federal policymakers on issues of STDs with increased outreach. So, please sign up to do Hill visits when registering for the Annual Meeting.

NCSD staff will set up visits for you with your elected officials the day before the opening of NCSD Engage, the NCSD Annual Meeting, on Tuesday, November 14.  We will also provide you with training and factsheets and materials to take to the Hill for these visits and travel to the Hill with you.

You may need to get permission from your department to do these visits.  Please start the request process immediately!

To join us, please reach out to Rebekah Horowitz, Senior Manager, Policy and Government Relations.
