Monitors, and conducts as necessary, investigations of higher complexity and/or of a controversial nature to assure adherence to administrative guidelines and that unusual, uncertain, or challenging circumstances are met with appropriate responses in keeping with program policies. Conducts and evaluates interviews of identified individuals to obtain information on their social, sexual, and/or needle-sharing partners. Monitors, elicits, and evaluates the analysis of local epidemiologic conditions (unmet service needs, shifting trends in risk factors or patient populations, chains of transmission, etc.) observed by DIS conducting investigations within their assigned area. Documents and reviews all relevant data and investigative documentation of DIS within their assigned area to ensure compliance with program investigative standards of timeliness, rigor, accuracy, and completeness. Travels frequently within the state, including occasional overnight stays, to conduct and evaluate fieldwork necessary for assigned investigations by locating and motivating persons infected or at risk of infection to seek medical examination and treatment, and by obtaining serologic or other specimens for laboratory testing. Conducts patient/client transportation when needed. Travel and fieldwork required of this position also includes temporary assignment to another part of the state during responses to infectious disease outbreaks enacted by KDHE.
