During her time at the UCSF Center for Reproductive Health, Dr. Adeyele created the Transgender Fertility Working group which has developed a workflow to guide transgender patients seeking reproductive services through a culturally competent clinical experience. Her current research seeks to describe the impact of gender-affirming treatments on fertility outcomes and is geared towards the adult population who may not have had the opportunity to have fertility preservation counseling. Dr. Adeyele has spoken on fertility and family building across the gender spectrum and has written Managing the Unique Medical and Reproductive Needs of the Transgender Population.
This series aims to make space for ongoing discussion on key topics in gender-affirming care, such as surgical navigation, developing trauma-informed systems of care, and increasing access to gender-affirming care. To achieve this end, ERA planned a schedule of events, consisting of two webinars and a half-day seminar, which will serve as an introduction to the 2020 Midwest LGBTQ Health Symposium (MLHS) to be held September 16-17, 2020 at Malcolm X College, Chicago, IL.
The philosophy of the learning series and the 2020 MLHS is to provide LGBTQ affirming standards of care and influence multidisciplinary health care professionals’ best practices. ERA values intersectional care that includes public health and social justice-centered frameworks, which inform our theme for 2020, “Being Healthy is a Radical Act.” For more information about the series, go here.
