The field of Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) prevention has always stressed the need to raise awareness of the connection between STDs and the increased risk of acquiring and transmitting HIV. Many health care providers do not offer adequate preventive, screening and treatment services for HIV-negative patients who are men who have sex with men (MSM), leaving them at risk for contracting HIV. In order to promote culturally competent care and best practices for HIV-negative MSM, NCSD is hosting this webinar for health care professionals. Important counseling, testing and monitoring recommendations will be discussed. Some of the topics that will be discussed are as follows:

• How the presence of an STD can lead to an increased risk for HIV acquisition and transmission
• Importance of Treatment as Prevention (TasP), otherwise known as Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), in caring for HIV-negative MSM patients
