Strengthening Policy Engagement, Assessment, and Knowledge with Stakeholders, or SPEAKS, sessions are policy-based workshops and discussions aimed to support STI prevention program staff.
This session will support health department STI program staff in navigating the policy process, offer practical non-partisan tips on how to work with state legislators, and educate participants on how to build effective relationships with state legislative liaisons and state health leaders. The session will feature experts from the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO) and Lisa Thimjon from the Minnesota Dept. of Health who will help participants understand how to confidently engage in public health policy work.
