NCSD will host our next SPEAKS* session on June 4 at 3:00 pm ET, with confirmed speakers Demetre Daskalakis from the Callen-Lorde Community Health Center and Kevin Hansen from the Chicago Department of Public Health. Panelists will share their strategies, struggles, and successes with integrating mpox vaccination into existing health programs and answer questions from participants. This webinar aims to provide replicable strategies for increasing mpox vaccine uptake and is made possible with funding from Bavarian Nordic.
This webinar is intended for state and local health departments, community-based organizations, and clinics working in STI prevention who are interested in identifying innovative and pragmatic ways to increase and normalize mpox vaccination uptake.
*Strengthening Policy Engagement, Assessment, and Knowledge with Stakeholders, or SPEAKS, sessions offer professionals working in the STI sector an opportunity to sharpen their policy skills by accessing virtual workshops and webinars that center policy-related themes.
During the 2022 mpox outbreak, NCSD put together an Mpox Command Center with outbreak resources from the CDC, key facts, partner resources, and resources to help communicate about mpox.
We also created an Mpox Communications Toolkit, with creative assets that were created through a series of online focus groups with gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men. This toolkit includes resources to help health departments partner with media proactively or in response to an outbreak. Tools included in the toolkit include templates for press releases and blog posts, talking points, and a step-by-step planning guide for press events. It also features creative assets such as posters, postcards, Grindr app ads, and more to help promote vaccine uptake.
