DIS Recognition Day is October 4, 2024! It may just be one day, but we'll be celebrating the hard work of DIS all week, and hope you'll join us.
Join us in making some noise for the 13th annual DIS Recognition Day on Friday, October 4th! Tag us (@NCSDDC on Instagram and Twitter or @National Coalition of STD Directors on Facebook and LinkedIn) so we can see and share. We have a toolkit with resources for health departments and others who want to celebrate DIS, as well as a toolkit specifically for DIS.
This year’s theme is Power In Community, in honor of both the community of DIS and their hard work, and the local communities that they serve. We’re weaving in plant visuals to represent the interconnected, diverse, and lively network of DI professionals across the country.
DIS are the backbone of public health, and all their hard work deserves recognition! They make a direct impact on peoples’ lives and health each day they show up for work.
Despite investing $600 million to build up the DIS network in states and local jurisdictions across the country, the Biden administration rescinded $400 million as part of the recent debt ceiling budget deal last year. This has been a stressful time for DIS, who already work in a hard role, so celebrating all their work and dedication is vital!
