Here's the scoop on what's happening this week in Congress
On Tuesday, September 10, the Senate Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services (LHHS), and the Department of Defense (DOD) will markup their FY20 appropriations bills. The LHHS Subcommittee is the body responsible for determining federal funding for STD Prevention at CDC. It is rumored that Energy and Water and Foreign Operations will also be marked-up next week.
After the committees markup, It is expected that the above bills will go to the Appropriations Committee on September 12, and will be bundled together in a minibus, or a strategy to put bills together to move the appropriations process forward. The minibus will either go to the floor for a vote or straight to conference – the process where the Senate and House come to an agreement on their different FY20 appropriations numbers.
