Meet the new NCSD Board Members. Congrats to all that were nominated!
Dr Gilliams is an infectious diseases trained physician who recently joined the Baltimore City Health Department. Dr. Gilliams has brought with her significant clinical experience in care of sexually transmitted infections, people living with HIV, and HIV-pre-exposure prophylaxis. As a member of the NCSD board, Dr. Gilliams looks forward to sharing the Baltimore City experience of successes and challenges in our clinic, providing the insight of a clinician and medical director, and bringing back new ideas that can improve our sexual health services.
Michael Kharfen is the Senior Deputy Director of the HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, STD and TB Administration in the DC Department of Health. Prior to his current position, he served as the Bureau Chief for Partnerships, Community Outreach and Capacity Building and Interim Bureau Chief for STD/TB Control. Dr. Kharfen looks forward to sharing his ideas and experiences, such as increasing access to STD health services for young people, redesigning STD clinical services, advancing DIS in data to care and data to prevention, and developing culturally-affirming sex positive campaigns.
Brittany Wardle is currently the Communicable Disease Prevention Program Manager at the Wyoming Department of Health. As a new board member, Brittany will bring her energy and passion for STD Prevention to continue to advocate at the local, state, and national level. She has been an active member of NCSD and have participated on the NCSD Annual Meeting Planning Committee for the past two years. Brittany looks forward to the opportunity to serve NCSD and its members.
