Dear Colleagues,

CDC’s National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention’s Office of Health Equity is sponsoring a thematic journal supplement, “Policy Approaches to Reduce the Morbidity, Mortality, and Incidence of HIV, Viral Hepatitis, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, and Tuberculosis,” which will be published by Public Health Reports (PHR).

The supplement will focus on policy (including legal) interventions or strategies that have affected burden, outcomes, or disparities for these diseases. Policy approaches presented in this issue might have direct impact on health services or behaviors, or they might influence health services or behaviors through changes in social determinants of health (e.g., socioeconomic conditions, transportation options, educational or employment opportunities, or access to safe housing). Legal approaches presented can be at the federal, state, or local level, and can include statutory or regulatory actions.

For additional important details about the call for papers associated with this journal supplement, please go to https://www.cdc.gov/nchhstp/healthdisparities/call-for-papers.html.

The process for responding to this call for papers will have two stages. In the first stage, only abstracts will be submitted for review by PHR and the special issue editors. In the second stage, based on review of the abstracts, authors will be invited to submit full manuscripts for additional review, including peer review. For the first stage of the process, abstract submissions are due to PHR no later than midnight of January 4, 2019. Invited authors will be asked to submit their full manuscripts by April 15, 2019.

Please consider submitting your work for inclusion in this important PHR supplement.

Best Regards,
