Washington, DC – On Thursday, the President announced the formation of the Make America Health Again Commission, a taskforce chaired by newly installed Health and Human Services Chair Robert F Kennedy, Jr., and designed in part to address the root causes of chronic diseases and keep Americans healthier overall. David C. Harvey, Executive Director of NCSD, issued the following statement:

“It is critically important that we focus our efforts on protecting America’s health; it must be our number one priority. To date, the failure of the government to address all chronic disease causes,  including syphilis, HIV and herpes, has wreaked havoc on our health system and the lives of American families. The Make America Healthy Again Commission must look at all root causes of America’s chronic disease crisis to ensure we build a stronger, more resilient country.”
