Thanks to all who joined us for STI Engage 2024: Shaping the Nation’s Health in Washington, D.C. this past June 2-5, 2024! This year’s conference came with a little name update, as NCSD works to transition the language we use. But it was the same great event as ever: the place for STI professionals to hear from national leaders – government officials, researchers, clinicians – as well as their own peers, as always, with top-notch production, game-changing content, and a lot of fun.
We livestreamed all of our plenary sessions on our YouTube channel as well as here!
Opening Plenary – Prevention at a Crossroads
Join us for the launch of STI Engage 2024: Shaping the Nation’s Health with a jam-packed exploration of the past, present and future of STI prevention in America. Watch past leaders talk face-to-face together on stage for the first time ever, hear updates from the leaders of today, and get a glimpse into our shared future. You’ll leave this session with new insights on the state of STIs and a sense of connection with fellow STI professionals from across the nation.
Morning Plenary – The Future in Your Hands: Defining the Role of Self-Collect Testing
It’s the dawn of an era where patients can access STI tests with the click of a mouse. But what role should self-collect testing play in the future of public health STI prevention? Get an insider’s briefing from one of the nation’s foremost experts on STI testing, and then hear a panel of seasoned public health practitioners discuss the promises and pitfalls of remote STI testing.
Lunch Plenary – Syphilis in America: Confronting the Crisis of Our Time
Syphilis is a crisis unlike any other faced by the modern STI sector, and the need for a strong response has never been more urgent. Join us as U.S. Assistant Secretary of Health Admiral Rachel Levine addresses the nation’s STI professionals on federal efforts to curb the rise in syphilis. Then, after expert testimony on the syphilis drug shortage, a powerhouse panel will attempt to reconcile how states, federal programs, and providers can stop the swell of syphilis and its gravest consequences.
Morning Plenary – This is Your Wake-Up Call: Connecting the Dots on Adolescent Health
It’s time for a wake-up call: Young people experience half of all STI cases, and the threats to their rights and services will only put them at more risk. Join us to hear what federal agencies are doing to promote health and well-being and hear how young people are fighting for their own future.
Closing Plenary – Past is Prologue: PrEP, Doxy PEP, and Empowering Ourselves to Shape the Future
All eyes are on Doxy PEP as a long-overdue biomedical innovation to prevent STIs, but HIV PrEP taught us that implementation matters even when ending an epidemic is within our grasp. Help us close out STI Engage 2024: Shaping the Nation’s Health with fascinating perspectives on what we know and don’t know about Doxy PEP, what PrEP implementation predicted about our future, and how states, clinicians, and activists are working to gain the upper hand in a movement for better sexual health.
We have a stacked agenda this year! With 5 plenaries, over 40 sessions, and nearly 200 presenters total there’s something for everyone and we can’t wait to see you there. Check out the agenda here
