Leslie Fowler with the Wyoming Department of Health shares how technical assistance from NCSD helped their communicable disease unit overcome the geocoding issues they were experiencing.
In 2019 The Wyoming Department of Health Communicable Disease Unit (CDU) was experiencing challenges with EvalWeb which resulted in geocoding data not being accurately transmitted to CDC. Despite numerous attempts and guidance from CDC, the issue was unresolved and reporting was incomplete.
CDU requested technical assistance from NCSD who was able to link us to other jurisdictions who provided invaluable information and the perspective to overcome the geocoding challenges with EvalWeb.
This assistance gave our surveillance department a better understanding of CDC’s use of EvalWeb and in 2020, Wyoming geocoded 100% of addresses for newly diagnosed individuals.
