What challenge was your STD program experiencing?

In 2019 The Wyoming Department of Health Communicable Disease Unit (CDU) was experiencing challenges with EvalWeb which resulted in geocoding data not being accurately transmitted to CDC. Despite numerous attempts and guidance from CDC, the issue was unresolved and reporting was incomplete.

What specific technical assistance tools and resources were provided to you? How did you use the tools and resources to address your challenge?

CDU requested technical assistance from NCSD who was able to link us to other jurisdictions who provided invaluable information and the perspective to overcome the geocoding challenges with EvalWeb.

What are the next steps your STD program plans to take (or have already taken) to address your challenge?

This assistance gave our surveillance department a better understanding of CDC’s use of EvalWeb and in 2020, Wyoming geocoded 100% of addresses for newly diagnosed individuals.
