The leading voice for strengthening STD prevention, research, and treatment at the state and federal levels.
NCSD members are uniquely positioned to know what works to reduce STD rates in their jurisdictions. As the voice of our members, NCSD provides leadership, builds capacity, convenes partners, and advocates for the policies, programs, and resources necessary to reduce STD rates and the serious health consequences of these diseases.
As the only national organization with a constituency that provides frontline STD services, NCSD is the leading national voice for strengthening STD prevention, research, and treatment. These efforts include advocating for effective policies, strategies, and sufficient resources, as well as increasing awareness of the medical and social impact of STDs. NCSD staff and members educate Members of Congress and the Executive Branch, provide testimony at governmental hearings and meetings, and are actively involved in numerous national coalitions focused on HIV/AIDS, reproductive health and other sexual health issues.
Add policy skills to your tool belt! Our team has trained partners from state and local health departments, departments of education, and partner non-profits how to do policy work and stay safe doing it.
NCSD’s This Month in State Policy is a corresponding series intended to complement state-specific policies outlined regularly in This Week in Congress.
